Theatreworks USA has seen a growing need for an experience which brings young people and artists together. We have always offered the finest in arts exposure programs enhanced through individually tailored theatre workshops and residencies. Now we are able to make available a wide range of participatory programs covering a broad spectrum of the performing arts.

All workshops are customizable to your unique needs – academic, theatrical, or just plain fun! Workshop topics include (but are not limited to):

Acting & Movement
A basic introduction to the elements of acting through active theatre games and structured exercises, including those designed to free the physical self.

Directing
What does a director do? Students explore the responsibilities and talents necessary to direct in the threatre through active game-playing. A perfect follow-up to an acting workshop!

Playwriting
Students investigate the role of the playwright, utilizing the basic elements of drama – character, relationships, conflict, theme, and climax.

Poetry
Take poetry from the printed page and put it into the mouths, bodies, and minds of students. This workshop leads students through a series of traditional theatre games, from the abstract free form (sound and nonsense) to the specific and technical.

Puppetry
A workshop that gives elementary-aged children simple and yet highly creative ways to produce their own puppet show. Children learn the story, as well as create, stage, and perform “Noah and the Ark.”

Storytelling
What are the elements that make for a great story? Students will explore character and plot, as well as getting in on the act by crafting their tales into compelling, unforgettable performances.
