Mike Mulligan and his beloved steam shovel, Mary Anne, can do anything... Dig great canals for boats to pass through, cut through majestic mountains to make tunnels, and even hollow out deep cellars for skyscrapers! But with the advent of gasoline, electric, and diesel-powered shovels which can do twice the work in half the time, no-one wants an old-fashioned steam shovel like Mary Anne. The town of Popperville needs a cellar for its new city hall, and Mike boasts that if he and Mary Anne can't dig the basement in just one day, they'll accept no payment. Will Mike and Mary Anne complete the job in time? Find out in this musical based on Virginia Lee Burtons classic 1939 book. |
